DIMAPUR — A total of 190 Naga army of the GPRN/NSCN including 2 Major General, 4 Brigadier, 6 Colonel, 23 Lieut. Colonel, 43 Major, 41 Captain, 21 2nd Lieut, 19 Sgt. Major, 13 Sergeant, 14 Corporal and 4 Lance Corporal have declared their position over the infamous coup on April 21, 2024.

“We were called back to the General Headquarters (GHQ) Khehoyi Camp from our various Command/ Units and directed to report on or before April 20, 2024 by the Commander in Chief (NA). To our surprise the then Commander-in-Chief, General Samson Aye told us that the ‘Naga army will take over the government, and we will not allow the Ato Kilonser to be stationed in the Council Headquarter (CHQ), as he will be impeached,’ which made us speechless and the idea and motives are only known to Gen. Samson and Maj. Gen. Hotoi alone,” stated a GPRN/NSCN press release through its MIP.

The 190 Naga army personnel have declared and made clear their position before Naga people and Naga national workers, to be noted in the history of the Naga people movement for self-determination, that it was done by the then Gen. Samson and Maj. Gen. Hotoi alone and are responsible and would be held accountable.

“As we were not told nor we were aware with what motive the coup was carried out against our Hon’ble Ato Kilonser, N Kitovi Zhimomi, on April 21, 2024.

“We respect Mr. N Kitovi Zhimomi as a tall leader among the Naga national leaders who had sacrificed all his prime age and continuing his loyalty and serving to protect the future of our younger generation,” the statement read.

It stated that they would not allow any elements to hijack or misguide their loyalty toward N Kitovi Zhimomi and expressed confident that the undisputed leader would never fail them but lead the people to a better future.

They have declared their loyalty and commitment to stand along with him and strengthen the NSCN(GPRN) and make committed efforts to enhance and solidify the “Agreed Position” in working toward an early Naga solution.

They have further declared their innocence over April 21, 2024, infamous coup and appealed to all right-thinking citizens not to implicate them as power mongers/ traitors in any form whatsoever.

“We make this declaration on this day the 25th of October 2024 with clear conscious and sound mind,” it added.
