2 killed, 1 injured in road mishap in Chümoukedima
DIMAPUR — Two persons were killed and another injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a truck on NH-29 in Chümoukedima on Monday night around 8.55 pm.
Police informed that both the bike and truck were heading towards Chümoukedima from Dimapur and the accident occurred when the bike, which was about to take a U-turn, was hit by the truck, killing one of the pillions riders on the spot and injuring the other two.
The pillion rider who died on the spot was later identified as Ghanyalo Woch (32 years).
The two injured were rushed to the CIHSR hospital where the bike rider identified as Henenlo Kez (33 years) succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. The other injured, reported to be from the Garo community, is still undergoing treatment, police said.
The Police PRO updated that a case has been registered in this connection and both the truck and driver identified as Manirul Biswas, are under police custody.
It was informed that the truck allegedly tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended by the NAPTC patrolling party after a chase.
The PRO also informed that the body of Ghanyalo Woch was handed over to the family members after completion of all the necessary formalities.
