22nd NSF MMT: New Market rout Go Live FC 9-0, Bucaneers down Kelhoukevira 3-1

Kohima, Oct. 14 (EMN): New Market FC routed Go Live FC CBCK 9-0 at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised on the theme Goal for peace’ by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) on Friday at IG Stadium in Kohima.

Talisman of New Market, Rhitso Mero, scored a double hat-trick during the match.

Mero is also the first hat-trick scorer of this year’s edition and currently the highest scorer with nine goals to his credit so far.

Petevizo Kezieo and Gideon Leo added a goal each for New Market, a local favourite from Kohima, shattering the morale of Go Live players during the first match.

Neisede Peseyie was adjudged man of the match. The award was handed by NSF MMT organising committee co-convenor, Kezhangulie Kirekhanuo.

In the second match, Bucaneers FC defeated Kelhoukevira FC 3-1 via tie-breaker after both teams ended in a 1-1 draw during regulation time.

Earlier, in a neck to neck encounter, Kelhoukevira took the lead through Rajuvikuo Khawakhrie in the 15th minute, but Bucaneers gained momentum after the lemon break and managed to find the much needed equaliser from the boots of Amesi in the 48th minute.

After the stipulated of 90 minutes play, the game had to be decided via tiebreaker where Bucaneers edged past Kelhoukevira.

The man of the match was awarded to Mhieneizotuo Lhousa of Kelhoukevira. The award was handed by Dziesebei-ü Vizo, administrator, IG Stadium, Kohima.
