3 thatch houses reduced to ashes in fire at Dilai
DIMAPUR — Three thatch houses were reduced to ashes in a fire incident that occurred on Monday around 2 pm at Dilai area in Karbi Anglong district, Assam, bordering Nagaland.
However, there was no report of any human casualty.
Sub-inspector Martin from West Fire Station, Dimapur, informed Eastern Mirror that they were alerted about the fire by the Central Fire Station around 2:17 pm, after which three fire tenders (two from West and one from Central station) were dispatched immediately to the site. Additionally, one fire tender from Bokajan Fire Station in Assam also arrived to douse the fire.
According to the fire official, the fire was fully extinguished by 3 pm. The fire official also mentioned that though the site of the fire incident falls under Assam jurisdiction, the West Fire Station took prompt action as it was the nearest fire station from the incident site.
The cause of the fire is suspected to be due to electrical short circuit originating from one of the razed houses.
According to the official, property worth approximately INR 5 lakh was destroyed by the fire.
