36 trainees clear state-level volleyball referee examination 2023
MOKOKCHUNG — After undergoing four-day intensive classes both theory and practical, 36 trainees including a lone woman from Longleng district cleared the Nagaland state-level volleyball referee examination 2023 on Friday.
The examination was supervised and conducted by Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, certified FIVB Level–1 coach and deputy director of sports, Nagaland University, and Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi, national referee from Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) and All India Referee Examiner. The examination was conducted from 12 to the 15th at Multi-Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
According to Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi, the classes and examination were conducted in almost national referee standard and all the candidates had successfully passed out in good remarks.
In a brief culmination programme, special guest Tiameren Aier, general secretary of Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA), stated that the game of volleyball is very dear in the hearts of the Naga people. He added that the younger generations are physically fit and just need good infrastructure to develop their talents and skills.
In this connection, he said NVA would appeal to the state government and Nagaland Olympic Association to look into the scenario of volleyball and its associations under the NBA.
He also congratulated Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) for the successful conduction of Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referee Examination 2023 and welcomed the passed-out Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referees to NVA’s fold.
On behalf of NVA, the general secretary also acknowledged MDVA’s seriousness in promoting the overall quality and the standard of Volleyball refereeing in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi also motivated the passed-out referees not to restrict themselves within the state of Nagaland but to venture out and attempt national and international referee examinations.
He also advised the referees that they must be equipped with the latest official volleyball rule book 2021-2024, referee guidelines and instructions along with case book and event regulations.
He further advised the referees that the ever-ready attitude to respond to the call of duty would help them secretly to be recognised by Associations and others.
“You have to earn your own recognition by your own wings, keep the ball flying and touch the sky with your glory, the sky has no limit for your talents,” he motivated the referees.
He, however, cautioned that as part and parcel of NVA, they should restrain themselves from indulging in any unwanted activity that may tarnish the image and reputation of MDVA and NVA.
Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari also said that the participants in the clinic have taken the examination seriously and they have learned a lot during the course of four days of intense theory and practical classes.
He urged the referees to continue their keen attitude to learn more because they are the luckiest batch to appear Nagaland state-level volleyball referee examination after more than a decade.
He also highlighted that volleyball seems to be a simple game but in reality, the game needs high skills which include coordination and combination with the team and players.
Special guest and general secretary of Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA), Tiameren Aier, gave away the passed-out certificates to all the successful candidates. The 36 successful candidates are from Wokha (1), Tuensang (6), Longleng (2), Phek (1) and Mokokchung district (27).
The Nagaland state-level volleyball referee examination 2023 was organised by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) under the aegis of Nagaland Volleyball Association and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports.
