3rd Nagaland State Futsal Championship to kick off today
DIMAPUR — The 3rd Nagaland State Futsal Championship 2023 will commence from October 17 to the 20th at JJ Arena, Chümoukedima. A total of 16 teams will vie for the championship title.
The event is organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and hosted by Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA).
Addressing a press conference on Monday at The King Chilly Restaurant, Dimapur, vice president of NFA Keyika S Sumi said that the Futsal tournament is important because it suits the physicality of the Nagas. Ever since the first Futsal Championship was held, the clubs from the state has been participating at the national level, he said.
He also informed that the 3rd Nagaland State Futsal Championship title will be a ticket to the National Futsal Championship.
He encouraged the youth by stating that it is easier to join the Indian Futsal team than the Indian football team. Since football is a spectator sport, there is significant potential, especially for boys. He added that with full dedication, football can be a rewarding profession to pursue.
The prize money for the winner is INR 1 lakh and INR 50,000 for runners up.
The organisers also informed that all the 16 districts were asked to participate but three districts will not be able to participate therefore, two teams each will be taking part from Dimapur, Kohima and Chümoukedima districts.
