6th session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly to begin on July 31
IMPHAL — Manipur cabinet on Friday decided to convene the 6th session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly from July 31.
“However the Business Advisory Committee will decide the number of sitting etc in its meeting,” said Health and Family Welfare minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh.
It may be mentioned that the 5th Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly was held from February 28 to March 5 this year (five days sittings).
Briefing the reporters at his residence after attending the three-hour long state cabinet meeting, the Health minister informed that the state cabinet also approved transferring of the VDF (Village Defence Force) personnel across the state.
Currently the VDF, which was raised in 2009 after approval by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram when he visited the state, are confined to their respective districts.
‘But the cabinet has given approval for their (VDF) transfer across the state,’ he said.
Presently, there are around 10,000 VDF personnel in the state. Thoubal district has the maximum number of posted VDF personnel among all the districts, as per Manipur police department website.
The state cabinet meeting, which was chaired by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh, had listed agenda of 43 items but some were deferred, said the minister, adding that it decided to amend the Manipur Private School (Registration & Regulation) Act 2017 and to frame the Manipur Private School (Registration & Regulation) Rules 2024.
The cabinet also approved framing of a separate Manipur Health services (Dental Services) Rules, he added.
