Dimapur, April 15 (EMN):

There is no shortage of food grains for Nagaland as supply and transportation of it continues.

Likewise, there are no issues concerning LPG supply and its availability because refilling is done in Nagaland itself, a government official has said.

The additional director at the Food and Civil Supplies directorate, Temsu Jamir, said there is no shortage of food grains in Nagaland as rice supply and transportation by the Food Corporation of India is still continuing as usual.

Jamir said rations are being distributed to ration card holders in all the districts of Nagaland.

The official informed that there is sufficient stock, adding that on April 14 Andhra Arham rice reached Nagaland. He said the food grains may last for around three months for entire Nagaland.

Jamir also informed that there are no issues regarding the availability and transportation of rice, even though lockdown is being implemented currently. It is continuing as usual, the official stated.

However, when queried about perishable commodities, he informed that it now ‘depends on local market produce.’

The authorities have restricted transportation of perishable commodities from Assam for the time being, he said.

Further, the official said there is no issue regarding the availability of LPG because refilling is done in Nagaland itself.
