Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): State health minister S Pangnyu Phom has expressed satisfaction on the preparedness to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) at Pungro sub-division in Kiphire district.
Phom stated this while interacting with the officials from the medical department at Pungro town on May 14. The minister visited Pungro sub-division to take stock on the preparedness to combat Covid-19 pandemic. He was accompanied by the minister of Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining Kashiho Sangtam, advisor of IPR, SCERT and VG Toshi Wungtung, and principal of Health and Family Welfare.
During the interaction, Phom has sought co-operation and support from the district administration and medical department in order to overcome the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Later, the team visited the GA rest house and held a short interaction with civil societies chaired by the deputy commissioner, Kiphire, Sarita Yadav.
During the interaction, Kashiho Sangtam called upon the NGOs and civil society organisations to unite and stand firm in the fight against the pandemic. Sangtam has assured all possible assistance in the fight against the disease.
Also speaking on the occasion, Toshi Wungtung has appreciated the village guards for discharging their assigned duty without fail in the fight to contain the spread of Covid-19. He also assured to supply high transmission frequency walkie-talkie to the village guards. He further encouraged the farmers to uphold traditional means of farming.
ADC Pungro, Abinav Shivam has briefed on the mechanism of lockdown in Pungro block and extended gratitude to the visiting team for their concern shown toward the people living in a far-flung areas. He also thanked all the Pungro-based NGOs and TFP for their relentless effort during this period.
