14 more returnees test positive; three recovered
Dimapur, June 17 (EMN): Fourteen more Covid-19 positive cases were recorded on Wednesday, while three patients recovered, taking the total cases in Nagaland to 193, according to official update.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom updated in two tweets that out of 552 Covid-19 suspected samples tested, 14 returned positive. He added that 12 new cases were from Mon quarantine centre and one each from Dimapur and Tuensang quarantine centres.
Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha also informed through the daily briefing that 14 samples tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17, taking the state’s tally to 193, out of which 103 have recovered. He added that all the 90 active cases from the state are asymptomatic and receiving medical care at the designated Covid-19 hospitals.
“As per the distribution of the 193 positive cases by age, there are 4 cases between 0-17 years, 182 cases between 18-44 years, 5 cases between 45-64 years and 2 cases between 65-74 years. As per the distribution of gender, there are 124 males and 69 females,” said Sinha.
“Till date, a total of 7202 samples have been tested. The results of 6174 samples have been received and the results of 1028 samples are awaited. Out of the 7202 samples, 4569 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), and till today, a total of 3910 samples have been tested,” he added. “A total of 7883 persons are presently under facility quarantine.”
The home commissioner has also requested ‘all the persons in the state, age 16 years and above, including frontline workers to participate in the online survey conducted by the department of Health and Family Welfare, to assess the mental health status of people in the state during the Covid-19 pandemic’.
“One may participate by going to the department’s website, nagahealth.nagaland.gov.in. The timeline for the survey is till the 30th of June 2020,” he said, while requesting anyone with symptoms of cough, fever or difficulty in breathing to contact the state’s helpline number.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland recorded its first Covid-19 positive cases on May 25 when three returnees from Chennai tested positive for the virus.
