Manipur Covid-19 positive cases increase to 1316

Imphal, July 3 (EMN): With 37 new cases, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Manipur has increased to 1316, Health department officials informed on Friday.
In the last 24 hours, 37 persons (30 male, 7 female) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases from the VRDL (Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratory) of RIMS, the state Health authority said in press release.
All patients are returnees from other states. They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities, it added. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last twenty four hours, 22 persons were discharged from Covid care centres of Meitram (11), Chandel (2), Kasom Khullen (5), Ukhrul (1) and RIMS (3) after they were found Covid-19 free on a Real Time PCR test, it added.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 1316 while the number of active and recovered cases is 678 and 638 respectively. The recovery rate is 48.48 percent, it informed

Efforts are made to look after the mental well being of the people affected by Covid-19. Till now, state psychological support team has conducted 9227 counselling sessions and benefitted 7449 individual clients, the release added.
As of Friday, 53,608 were tested for Covid-19, another official source added. Meanwhile, the Manipur police have detained 617 persons along with 340 vehicles and fined a sum of INR 58,890 for violating lockdown rules and not wearing face masks in public and not maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
