Dr. T Ao Trophy to be held if situation doesn’t worsen

Kohima, Sep. 4 (EMN): While the Covid-19 pandemic had put all the sporting activities, including training and tournament, to a grinding halt in Nagaland, the Youth Resources and Sports department held a meeting to discuss the feasibility of conducting Dr. T Ao Trophy following the decision of the government to relax restrictions on sporting activities.
An update stated that the meeting was held in Kohima under the initiative of the advisor for Youth Resources and Sport, Zale Neikha.
It stated that the meeting deliberated the pros and cons of organising the football tournament and informed that it had decided to organise it. It stated, that “if the situation doesn’t worsen, the tournament will be held keeping in mind the pandemic issue and the standard operation procedure (SOP) given by the government for the safety of the citizens from time to time”.
The update stated that Neikha, in his short speech, welcomed the respective heads of various branches of Youth Resources and Sports and thanked all the participants for turning up to the meeting.
He shared the objectives of holding the co-ordination meeting that was aimed at highlighting the activities of the department and its different branches. He also encouraged the department officials to continue to render their best service for the welfare of the people, particularly the youth and added that the department will have meetings at regular intervals.
Meanwhile, the commissioner and secretary of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Alun Hangsing, exhorted the gathering and thanked the advisor for his concern for the overall growth of the department.
He also highlighted the composition of YRS department, concerns and activities taken up by the department and its future plans.
The department of Youth Resources and Sports has many components of both Centre and state- National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Army and Air wings, National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) and Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA). At the meeting chaired by Director Akumla Chuba, different cells of the department presented the activities carried out during the lockdown and also their plan and vision for the remaining months of the year.
