Kohima, Nov. 14 (EMN):
A new patient attendant guest house at Nagaland Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) donated by the Kohima Ao Baptist Church (KABA) was dedicated by Rev. M Asangba Longkumer, KABA senior pastor, on Saturday.

Speaking at the dedicatory programme, Rev. Longkumer stated that the guest house was donated in commemoration of KABA platinum jubilee celebration held on December 28, 2014. He stated that the new guest house was to proclaim God’s kingdom and faithfulness for the benefit of the people.

Meanwhile, the principal director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie has acknowledged KABA for the services and initiatives taken towards the hospital by constructing a ‘patient attendant guest house’. He stated that the guest house would go a long way in easing the plight of many patients.

He added that KABA had not only constructed the guest house but also helped with many initiatives in the hospital even in the past.

“This gesture of Christianity will go a long way in opening the eyes of other churches to do more community work,” said Suokhrie.

The principal director meanwhile urged upon the churches to continue praying for the safety of frontline workers who are tirelessly fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Convener of the building construction committee, Dr. Imo informed that the project was constructed at the cost INR 1.65 crore. He stated that the five-floor building has 34 beds with fully furnished 12 double rooms and two dormitories attached with kitchen and bathroom.

The convener further informed that the construction work of the building started in 2018.

KABA pastor Rev. Sentisashi, who chaired the dedicatory programme, said the church came up with the project to construct a guest house within the hospital premises in realising the limited accommodation facility in the hospital. He informed that the church would fully handed over the facility to the hospital authority for its management.

The pastor also stated that the purpose of the guest house is to provide accommodation for people who come from far flung area and cannot afford expensive accommodations. He added that the facility would be available for the less privileged at a minimum rate and not for income generation.

Meanwhile, the managing director of NHAK, Dr. Thorusie Katiry informed that a committee would be constituted for the management of the guest house. He, however, informed that the guest house would be initially used for the accommodation of the Covid-19 frontline workers and subsequently be used for patients at a minimal rate.
