Wokha, Dec. 11 (EMN): Minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi on Friday inaugurated ‘Wokha Clock Tower’ at old traffic point (earlier known as police point Wokha) on Friday, and the structure was donated by Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Zhimomi urged the people to come together and reshape the society, as well as called upon the Lotha community to utilise their God-gifted talents for the interest, uplift and benefit of the Nagas.
Stating that the government of the day has taken up many development projects in power supply and road, he requested the public to have trust and patient as development activities cannot be done in a single day.
He also urged the people not to stop development works in the form of land compensation as projects are taken up for the welfare of the society.
Reminding the effort and contribution of Patton towards Lotha community in particular and Nagas in general, he urged the three sitting MLAs and the general public to give co-operation to its leader who will bring more development and opportunity.
Meanwhile he asked the youths to use social media effectively for the positive progress of society.
Zhimomi said that the government is trying to provide water supply across the state and several projects had been inaugurated. He assured to assist in ensuring that all these projects are successfully completed and benefit the people.
Lotha Hoho chairman Mhondamo Ovung, who also spoke at the event, requested the PHED minister to look into the water supply at Witter Theological College (WTC) compound, Vankhosung, which was inaugurated in 2018, saying that the people aren’t benefitting fully as its capacity is lesser than what was proposed.
The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, who chaired the event, requested the people to consider the clock tower as their property and preserve it, describing it as the face of Wokha district.
The clock tower, which measures 57 ft in height was constructed by Patton for the people of Wokha district through LADF programme 2019-2020.
