Bokajan subdivision declares total lockdown for seven days

Diphu, May 14 (EMN): A 57-year-old woman died of Covid-19 at her residence in Dillai, Karbi Anglong at 5 am on Friday. The deceased was from Rongtabor in Dillai under Bokajan constituency, Karbi Anglong.
Speaking to media persons, Dr. Jirjar Phura, in-charge of Dillai State Dispensary, informed that the woman had undergone medical check up on May 10 wherein she tested positive for Covid-19. She was referred to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for medical treatment. However, they did not concur to the advice given and she passed away at her own residence, the doctor stated.
Dr. Phura informed that in Dillai area, out of 100 percent just 10 percent of people have taken Covid-19 vaccination. He also mentioned that in Karbi Anglong district alone, a total of 1546 positive cases have been detected out of which 465 active cases and six deaths.
In another development, the district administration has imposed seven days total lockdown in Bokajan sub-division from May 15 in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmission in the district,.
The additional deputy commissioner stated that the decision for imposing lockdown was taken at the meeting with the Bokajan Municipal Board on May 13 at CCI guesthouse, during which the chairman and the ward commissioners suggested for creation of containment zones as preventive measures as reiterated in the latest order issued by the government of Assam on May 12.
During the lockdown period, permission would be issued for home delivery of groceries and other essential items including cooking cylinder, he added. Bokajan Municipal Board has been authorised to oversee the proceedings and other related matters pertaining to containment.
