MSRLM inducts 50k SHG women business correspondents

Imphal, Sep, 29 (EMN): As part of the India’s 75th Independence Day celebration, the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj On Wednesday organised a function dedicating 50,000 Self Help Groups (SHG) women members as business correspondents.
The day’s function was held here under the initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Speaking on the occasion, State Mission Director (MSRLM) Yumnam Robita, urged the participants to give cooperation and support in order to achieve the goal of the mission. She said under the scheme, women are empowered through the SHGs and the function will highlight the active role of the Bank Sakhis.
Appreciating the women entrepreneurs and encouraging them to work harder to excel in their business, she also requested the bank partners to assist those SHGs needing help and assured that the Mission would continue its support in the future.
Sharing his observation on ‘Business Correspondents as Entrepreneurship’, Director Lianminthang of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), said correspondents need to play as a link to the banks and the rural mass and in this process they can also greatly benefit if they imbibe characteristics of a successful entrepreneur.
He informed that RSETI also trains BCs under the ‘One GP One BC Sakhi’ programme with certification by Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and also trains rural poor and unemployed youths in various trades with the objective of generation of self- employment and entrepreneurship.
At the day’s function which was attended by Helun Khongsai, SMM-FI; Manipur representatives of APB (Airtel Payment Bank); IDFC first bank; CSC-SPV and SHGs members, 32 SHGs were conferred certificate and electronic devices by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
