Kohima, March 5 (EMN): A minor fire broke out in the forest area near Old Ministers’ Hill in Kohima on Saturday but was extinguished before it could spread further.
Officer-in-charge of Fire Station (South), Kohima, said the fire was suspected to be caused by burning of plants for gardening purposes that went out of control.
No human casualty was reported as the fire broke out in an isolated area.
“It was a small jungle fire and did not take us much time to douse the fire,” he said.
On receiving information at 2:50 pm, six personnel and a fire tender were pressed into action and the inferno was brought under control, the official informed.
He added that they were able to douse the fire on time because they were informed early.
