Manipur Police detains 35 in post poll incidents

Imphal, March 14 (EMN): Manipur police detained 35 persons in connection with different post poll incidents including mob violence in and around Kshetrigao assembly constituency in Imphal East district in the last few days.
The arrested persons, which include around 13 women, will be produced before court for further necessary steps, according to police officials stationed at Imphal East district.
There were also reports of violence between BJP and NPP workers, which caused injury and destruction of properties on March 11.
One woman police personnel sustained injury, while some vehicles were also reportedly damaged in an incident that took place at Porompat area in Imphal East district on Monday. Some protestors also sustained injury during police action.
On Sunday, a Saikul police team arrested two cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) for allegedly firing several rounds in the air using firearms at Lhungtin village near T Gamnom designated camp during a victory procession to celebrate the winning of a candidate on Sunday afternoon, police said.
According to police, an FIR has been lodged at the Saikul police station for investigation in connection with the alleged blank firing.
The arrested KRA cadres have been identified as David Hangshing (37) of Kangpokpi in Kangpokpi district and Seikhochon Hangsing (39) of Lilen Village in Nagaland’s Peren district.
Continuing its raid, police also arrested another accused identified as Lamkhosat Hangshing (43) of Ichaigojang Village, Kangpokpi district.
