Dimapur, March 28 (EMN):
President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Monday conferred Padma Shri award to T Senka Ao from Nagaland for his contribution in the field of literature and education.

The second investiture ceremony of Padma Awards was held more than two months after its conferment to 128 distinguished personalities — 4 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri — was approved. The first civil investiture ceremony was held on March 21, wherein 54 personalities were honoured.

Senka Ao, 76, was conferred Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of his service as a “Tribal ao author, teacher and journalist – preserving Nagaland’s Ao language through his writings over decades”.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday took to Twitter to congratulate him.

‘Congratulations T Senka Ao on receiving the Padma Shri Award 2022 in the field of Literature and Education from the President of India. We value your contributions and we are extremely proud of your achievements,’ he wrote.
