KAAC election: CEM Ronghang holds meeting with voters

Diphu, May 28 (EMN): Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Friday held a meeting with the voters of Upper Chinthong in West Karbi Anglong and made an appeal to the voters to support the new face, BJP candidate Avijit Kro from Chinthong Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency in the upcoming MAC election to the KAAC.
Incumbent MAC and Executive Member (EM), KAAC Prodip Rongpi had lost the BJP ticket and most of the voters of Upper Chinthong comprising Karbis, Gorkhas and Khasis were discouraged.
There are 14,549 voters, out of which, Karbis voters are 8,650, Gorkhas have 3,803 voters, while Khasis have2, 096 voters.
In order to build confidence among the voters, BJP Chinthong Mandal Committee organised a meeting at Rengsibon Aklam Mini Stadium, Umlapher on Friday. In the meeting, the sitting MAC Rongpi said that there are many ticket aspirants, but only one person will get a ticket.
Urging the voters to continue supporting the BJP, he said, “I know you all are disheartened, but that depression should not last long. You should come back to the party. In these five years of BJP rule, you have witnessed development in Chinthong. You should not forget the love and affection shown by the BJP government and I appeal to you not to leave the party and work wholeheartedly to support Avijit Kro”.
He also praised the Gorkhas, Karbis and Khasis living in the inter-state boundary as they have acted as walls to protect the boundary.
The CEM further urged the voters to support the new face, Avijit Kro and said that the people of Upper Chinthong should be united on the inter-state border issues and added that as demanded by the public, statues of Thong Nokbe and Durga Mala will be installed at Umlapher after the election.
He also appreciated the ticket aspirants for respecting the party ideology and principles for not contesting against the party candidate.
Earlier, in another meeting held at Chinthong BJP Mondal Committee Office Rongjangphong, the CEM urged party workers to have a close coordination and mutual understanding.
CEM said, “There will be no reshuffle of Mondal Committee, block and lower-levels. The existing office bearers will remain as it is. If there are any differences among you, it has to be sorted out through mutual discussion. The road from Amtereng to Birsingki will be repaired”.
Kro urged the voters to support the BJP so that there is more development in Chinthong.
