World Wide Fund holds programme in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, June 29 (EMN): World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature-India organised an interactive session called ‘Citizen Science’ for the conservation of nature and cultural heritage at Diphu Government College conference hall in Karbi Anglong on Wednesday.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Diphu Government College and Forest department, Karbi Anglong.
Attending the interactive session, professor of Geography, Guwahati University, Dr. Abani Kr. Bhagabati said that the interactive session was organised to educate students about the importance of conservation of natural and cultural heritage.
The people of Karbi Anglong, especially the tribal people are very close or dependent on nature. The hill tribe people here are also very rich in their culture and traditions and they must be preserved, he added.
Informing that the unpredictable weather is being experienced due to the degradation of the forest, he urged not only environmental conservationists but the general public and intellectuals to come forward for the conservation of nature, wildlife and human survival.
The interactive session was attended by Principal Secretary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Mukul Ch. Saikia; Additional PCCF, Vipin Kr. Bansal and Principal, Diphu Government College, Tado Terangpi.
