Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): The Combined Annual Training Camp-35, a ten-day training camp, was organised by 1 Nagaland Girls’ Battalion NCC, Kohima under the aegis of NCC Group-Kohima at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama from June 25 to July 4th.
An update informed that the main focus of the camp was to develop qualities of character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service, personality development and a glimpse of the regimented way of life.
Two officers, eight associate NCC officers/caretakers, 19 PI staff and 372 cadets from 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC and 24 NL (I) Coy NCC of NCC Group, Kohima attended the camp.
In his opening address on June 26, Col. Abdul Hameed Khan, Commanding Officer of 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC, Kohima and Camp Commandant informed the cadets on the aims of NCC particularly to develop qualities of character, leadership, discipline, camaraderie, courage, sportsmanship etc. He urged the cadets to cultivate self-discipline, which is the key to success and prosperity.
Brig. Praveen Singh Sangwan, Group Commander, NCC Group-Kohima made his official visit to the camp on June 27. Urging the cadets to take advantage of their NCC exam certificates and avail job opportunities in armed forces and central armed police force, he encouraged them to avail the various government schemes available for business start-ups/entrepreneurship.
On June 29, a special prayer and talk on spiritual health was delivered by Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami, Principal, SJC (A), Jakhama.
The cadets were trained in weapon handling, drill, map reading, field-craft and battle-craft, firing and how to carry out sentry duties, it informed.
