Diphu, July 24 (EMN): Karbi Anglong police on Sunday recovered heroin weighing 1 kg 330 grams and arrested three persons including a woman during a ‘naka’ check set up at Rengma Basti tri-junction under Khatkhati police station.
According to police, acting on specific information a ‘naka’ was set up at Rengma Basti Tini Ali and around 4 pm, two vehicles coming from Manipur were intercepted. Police said the vehicles took the Rengma Basti road to avoid the regular checking of Khatkhati check post.
On thorough search of the vehicles, police seized a total of 99 boxes of heroin (50 boxes from the Eeco van bearing registration no NL 07CB 2827 and 49 boxes from the Gypsy bearing registration no NL07CA 5586).
In this connection, police arrested two males and a female later identified as Pavei Saichama, (25 years), son of Jonathan Saichama of Saranamai Khaikho village; Veio, (42 years), son of Shosho of Khaikho Paomata village, Senapati district, Manipur, and Avi alias Angela (25), daughter of Panah and presently residing at New Minister Hill, Kohima.
