16 landless families from Lumding road receive INR 1 lakh each in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Aug. 11 (EMN): The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang on Thursday distributed cheques of INR 1 lakh to each of the 16 landless families from Lumding Road. The cheques were distributed at the KAAC conference hall of the new KAAC Secretariat.
On July 2 last, as per High Court order the Land and Revenue department of KAAC evicted 35 families occupying the allotted land for construction of the District Judicial Court Complex at Rongpangthir, Lumding Road. On being evicted the CEM announced to allot land to the genuinely landless families.
The CEM said that along with INR 1 lakh four bundles of tin sheets were also given to each family.
The local MAC of Lumbajong Johnny Timung has also donated his land to rehabilitate the 16 landless families.
After settling in the allotted place, all facilities like roads, electricity, potable water, ration cards and other schemes will be reached, CEM said.
