Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The Psychology department of Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) organised its first expedition to Mount Puliebadze in Jotsoma on August 20 the theme ‘Walk with nature.’
An update from the college informed that the departmental activity was conducted with an objective to impart the importance of nature in helping the students explore as well as experience during the process of learning.
During a programme held at Puliebadze base camp, counselor of DBCK, Kezhazolie Cornelius Mere, spoke on the topic ‘Mental health with nature.’ Stating that there is no health without mental health, he urged the students to spend more time with nature, which would help in healing one’s mental health. According to him, every individual is born to live and be a part of nature.
Mere also reminded the students to remember the importance of nature and its benefits in mending and healing one’s mental health and also urged them to love, preserve and cherish nature by regarding it as the best psychotherapy one could ever receive.
It stated that the students were made to do some physical stretching followed with a scream therapy, where the students were asked to turn towards the mountains and scream out all their stress, worries and sufferings.
The programme also included “sharing activity,” where the students were asked to share their own personal experiences and feelings, games and other activities.
Later, the teachers and the students of first and third semesters of the department climbed Mount Puliebadze to build a healthy relationship with nature and the ecosystems.
A total of 56 students along with three teachers and two photographers of the Psychology department participated in the educational learning tour, it added.
