Karbi Anglong gears up for PPI drive

Diphu, Sep. 16 EMN): As part of the national pulse polio immunisation (PPI) programme, Karbi Anglong district will start its pulse polio immunisation for children between 0-5 years from September 18 in 463 polio booths spread across the district.
In a meeting convened by joint secretary, in charge of Health & Family Welfare department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), held here at the KAAC conference hall on Friday, the health officials have chalked out dates for conducting the immunisation programme in the district.
The pulse immunisation programme will be conducted on from September 18 to the 20th.
On September 18, polio immunisation will be administered in 463 polio booths. From September 19 polio immunisation will be conducted in 27 institutional medical booths like hospitals and health centres. Polio immunisation will also be conducted in19 transit booths like bus stands, railway stations and auto-rickshaw stands.
Four mobile teams will be constituted to reach places where there are no polio booths and 91 areas have been selected as difficult places, where communication is a problem.
The meeting also discussed the observation of Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav – a mega voluntary blood donation drive in Karbi Anglong from September 17 to October 1, as part of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The blood donation centre for Diphu will be at Diphu Medical College & Hospital.
The meeting was attended by joint director of Health Services, Dr. Borsing Rongpi, additional chief medical & health officer, (SW), Dr. Tanuja Borah, district immunisation officer, Dr. Durgeswar Engti, district programme manager, NHM, Amarjit Tisso and CA (universal immunisation programme), Siddhartha Paul CA and other health officials.
