Nagaland: Kiruphema Students’ Union volleyball, penalty shootout championship concludes

Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): The 5th edition of Kiruphema Students’ Union open volleyball cum penalty shootout tournament culminated on Saturday at Old Kiruphema local ground (Peducha). Altogether, 14 volleyball teams and 23 penalty shootout teams took part in the tournament, an update stated.

Chienino Brothers (A) Kiruphema emerged champions of the 5th KSU open volleyball after defeating Seven Brothers, while Michazou Club won the penalty shootout championship by defeating Legacy Club. Individual awards were given to Vikovor Yavio ( Chienino Brothers A kiruphema), best spiker;  Kekhrieneizo Suohumvü (Seven Brothers Kiruphema), best setter; and Paulianbe (N Kire club) player of the tournament.

Earlier, Kevichülie Dahou, Chairman, Kiruphema General Council (KGC), urged the teams to maintain discipline and spirit of the game, adding that self-discipline is important to become good athletes.

Dahou also said the KSU tournament is one of the most famed tournaments which has brought teams from other neighbouring districts and villages as well.

Appreciating the KSU for taking the initiative of organising the tournament for the last five years, he also encouraged the KSU to take higher steps in the future and develop players.
