MDFA: Mongsenbai FC, Longpa Lomuden FC, OCYU enter quarter

Mokokchung, Oct. 17 (EMN): Mongsenbai FC defeated Longpa Lomuden FC 4-0 in the pool B winner deciding match at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Monday.

Imnatoshi and Vinoka Aye scoring in the 21^st and 31^st minutes gave Mongsenbai the 2-0 lead before the break. After the breather, Longpa  Lomuden tired to give a stiff contest but Mongsenbai’s style of play displayed superb domination.

Mongsenbai FC again extended its scoreline in the 49^th minute in the game through Temjenmeren; and Lolenyuba wrapped the match by scoring in the 52^nd minute to clinch the Pool B winner title with a thumping 4-0 win.

Despite losing today’s match, Lomuden FC also qualified for the quarter berth as they had secured three points in their previous match against Marepkong, who lost both matches from Pool D.

Maorenba’s equaliser helps OCYU enter quarter

Maorenba’s superb header helped OCYU defeat Youngster in a much-needed equaliser to secure a berth in the quarters.

Both the teams have lost their matches against Moanungsang Sporting Club in previous encounters.  However, Youngster needed three points, while OCYU just needed a draw because of the goal difference.

In the match, Youngster took control of the game for a large part of the game in the first half and drew the first blood when Merangtemjen converted a penalty in the 30 minutes.

After a high-intense first half, OCYU did not waste much time to find the equaliser after six minutes into the game via a corner kick. Maorenba nestled the ball into the Youngster FC net with a sublime glancing header and crushed the Youngster’s quarter spot moment.
