Police, CRPF and others observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): Nagaland Police, 173Bn CRPF and a host of government departments and institutions observed ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas‘ (National Unity Day) on Monday to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of ‘Iron man of India’ Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Nagaland Police: Nagaland Police (NP) observed Rashtryia Ekta Diwas at conference hall, PHQ Kohima, where DGP, T John Longkumer, in his address stated that Rashtryia Ekta Diwas was introduced by the Government of India to instill unity among the citizens of India. NP in an update informed Longkumer stated that the police in India have contributed immensely towards various internal security challenges and are an integral part and instrumental in maintaining unity of the country. And in recognition of the galvanising role played by police, the Government of India declared the period falling between October 21 to the 31st as ‘Police Flag Day’ celebration, the DGP said. The programme was chaired by Uniel Kichu, SP (cyber security).

173 CRPF:  The 173Bn CRPF deployed at Dimapur airport celebrated ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas‘ with a ‘Unity run’ was starting from the unit HQ Dimapur airport to Diphupar PS and back. Around a 100 CRPF personnel, 50 students and 20 ladies participated in the unity run led by commandant of 173Bn, CRPF, Ashok Kumar Yadav. National Unity Day pledge was also conducted at unit headquarters, informed an update. “The above events were conducted to reaffirm the commitment of people of India towards encouraging national unity and giving a message of unity in diversity,” it stated.

‘Unity run’ in Kohima: As part of the 75 Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, additional secretary for Youth Resources & Sports (YR&S), Anthony Ngully, flagged off the Unity Run-cum-culmination of Clean India Campaign 2.0 from WW-II tank area to NSF office premises. A DIPR report stated that Ngully also administered the pledge of the National Unity Day. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the department of YR&S, which was participated by NSS, NYKS, and volunteers. Earlier, the participants also cleaned up the litter in the WW-II Tank surroundings.

Pranab Vidyapith HSS: At Pranab Vidyapith HSS, Dimapur, the programme commenced with the ‘Unity run’ covering a distance of more than 2 km from the school campus. A team comprising 160 students from standards 8 to 12 and teachers took part actively in the run holding the banner and placards, the school in an update informed. Later, the school’s vice principal, AK Ray highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel in unifying free India.
