Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio releases Team Nagaland kit and jerseys
Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Sunday officially released the playing kit and jerseys of Team Nagaland for the forthcoming 2nd North East Olympic Games to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, from November 10 to the 16th.
Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) in an update informed that the kit and uniforms have been designed and conceptualised by NOA’s internal design team in collaboration with the design team of Kaki Marketing led by Kakivi Chishi.
The theme of Team Nagaland is ‘Stronger together’ and the jerseys depict the art piece of renowned Naga artists Akup Buchem, who hails from Longleng district.
The art piece printed in the back of the Nagaland track jacket is a depiction of Naga shawls tied in a knot and accompanied by the message of ‘Stronger together.’
Out of 18 sports disciplines in the North East Olympic Games 2022, The Nagaland contingents will be participating in 17 sports disciplines, which includes archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, golf, judo, karate, lawn tennis, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
The models who displayed the uniforms for the release are sportspersons who have been selected to represent Nagaland in the North East Olympics. The models-cum-players are Shekhotolu (badminton), Tovali (badminton), Kisino (table tennis), Nodeto (cycling), Seyievizo Kire (basketball) and Keheihingbe (wushu).
According to NOA, the team kit includes track suit, travel and semi formal tee shirt and shorts, competition uniforms of uppers and lowers, training/running shoes and socks, sports back pack, sports trolley luggage bag and sports cap.
Specialised sports disciplines like cycling and wrestling have been provided separate kits and competition shoes. Spikes and shoes have also been provided for specialised events in athletics. Imported cycles and kit have been provided for the cycling team and tennis rackets have been provided for tennis players.
“The sports fraternity of Nagaland under the banner of the Nagaland Olympic Association wishes the team all success and calls upon the citizens of Nagaland to extend moral and prayer support to all the young athletes and spokespersons who will be representing the State,” it stated.
