Taxation department of Karbi Anglong continues inspection drive on trade license

Diphu, Nov. 10 (EMN): In continuation to the trade licence inspection drive, the Taxation department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Thursday conducted an inspection drive at Sukhajan daily market to check the trading licenses and Professional Tax from traders.
Those without licenses were given a deadline of one week while those with expired licenses were ordered to renew at the earliest.
The team was led by Deputy Secretary, KAAC, in-charge Taxation department, Sonasing Terang; Superintendent of Taxes, Mongalsing Taro and Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, Serdihun Beypi.
The inspector of Taxes, assistant inspectors and enforcement constables visited shops and business establishments and checked the trading licenses of shopkeepers and businessmen.
During the inspection, it was found that business establishments like welding and repair of machinery, tyres shops, motor garages, tea stalls, steel almirah-making shops and sand stockists etc., were running their businesses without a trading license, while many were still unaware on the need to have a trade license.
Gobin Tatanti, who runs a welding shop in Sukhanjan without any trade license, expressed his gratitude towards the department for highlighting the importance of having a trade license.
Sonasing Terang said the next drive will be held in Bokajan town, Khatkhati and Lahorijan.
Terang said the target for revenue collection is INR 200 crore.
The Deputy Secretary also said after completing the inspection drive in Karbi Anglong, the team will move to West Karbi Anglong.
