Karbi Anglong: Sand Mahalders and Suppliers Association hikes sand rate

Diphu, Nov.14 (EMN): Sand Mahalders and Suppliers Association (SMSA) in a press release has informed that the new rate of sand is fixed at INR 65 per cft.

Initially, the rate was INR 110 per cft, but through mutual understanding and as requested by SSSCUD and SSSUC, Nagaland, the rate was fixed at INR 42 per cft at Longnit IB, Karbi Anglong, it stated.

“But it is disheartening to note that all the rates of other day-to-day basic commodities have been hiked to 100 to 200 percent except sand. Now it is a frustrating scene for SMSA in Karbi Anglong,” the statement said.

‘In all these years, the SMSA has been patiently waiting, adhering to the commitment made to SSUD and SSSUC, without any hike,’ it said.

Therefore, SMSA opined that the new rate is ‘justifiable and noteworthy’.
