In a new political development ahead of the state general election scheduled on February 27, key leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under 37 Tyui Assembly Constituency in Wokha district have resigned from their respective post and primary memberships.
A copy of the resignation letter, which was made available to the media on Friday, stated that “there is a huge wave for a change of leadership pertaining to democratic representation from 37 Tyui AC to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.”
“The 37 Tyui AC electorates were of the strong conviction that 15 years of representation by the same person was enough to recognise one’s ability of representation and therefore, the necessity for change,” the letter read.
It maintained that the resignation was made in response to the people’s strong desire for change.
The resigned leaders included its president P Renbenthung Lotha, vice president Nzunyimo Ngulie, secretary Zulamo Ngulie, advisor Eyilow Kikon, executive members Thungbeni Ezung and Nzamo Ngullie.
Mentioned maybe made here that, Y Patton, the incumbent deputy chief minister, represents the constituency and earlier this month. The former MLA Yankithung Yanthan, along with his supporters, had agreed to support Patton.
Sources informed that the resigned members have vouched to support Senchumo (NSN) Lotha from Janata Dal (United) party in the upcoming state election.
