BPL students receive financial assistance in Karbi Anglong

The Below Poverty Line (BPL) students under the Diphu Legislative Assembly constituency, Karbi Anglong were given one-time financial assistance for higher studies and medical purposes.

The beneficiaries received INR 20,000 and INR 5,000 each under the Chief Minister Relief Fund for Educational and Medical Purpose scheme. The ceremonial distribution programme was held at Diphu club on Tuesday.

Attending as a chief guest, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang said, ‘the government is providing one-time financial assistance to students whose family has an annual income of INR 5 lakh below.’

CEM Ronghang highlighted that in Karbi Anglong under the CEM Relief fund, patients were given one-time financial assistance.

The CEM said that the KAAC assists the medical students financially who have cleared their entrance tests. He said that around 49 medical students were given financial assistance for their studies last year with agreements to work in Karbi Anglong and serve the people of the district.

To avail the assistance, he said, a MoU between KAAC and medical students has to be signed and even for UPSC and APSC aspirants the KAAC would assist the financial. Diphu, March 7 (EMN)
