Organisers of Greenfield Karbi Anglong League are seen during the launching of jersey of various football clubs in Diphu town on Thursday.

Diphu: Greenfield Soccer Group with host partner Hills United Football Club will organise Greenfield Karbi Anglong League 2023 at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium from March 12. The tournament is being organised in memory of Late Gandhiram Timung and Late Sunaram Terang and supported by KASA.

The champion of the tournament will win prize money of INR 1 lakh and the runners-up of INR 70,000.

Speaking at the launch of jersey and match fixture event on Thursday at Farmers Growth Centre in Diphu town, the chairman of Greenfield Soccer Group, Deepak Asangbam, informed that a total of 24 clubs have registered for the tournament.

“We are in two years project and attempting to organise a district-wise tournament. This time it is for Karbi Anglong. We have also organised futsal cup in other places of Assam as well as in other Northeastern states of Manipur and Nagaland,” Asangbam said.

He added that only two teams out of the 24 participating clubs would be selected to play in the inter-district tournament.

The chief guest of the event and former member of autonomous council (MAC), Ramsing Timung said, “the authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is taking initiative to bring about sport culture in the district by setting up stadium in every 26 MAC and constituencies in Karbi Anglong.

He expressed hope that more players would come out from Karbi Anglong in the near future. He also formally announced about the tournament.

The rules and regulation was read out by manager of Hills United Football Club, Dr. Ratan Teron.

The clubs which have registered for participation in the tournament are Chunbang FC; East West United FC; Eleven Star FC; Everest FC; FCC KASA; Hills United FC; Hills United FA; Cyclone FC; Hunter SC; Jirpo Chingri FC; Kangtang FC; Karbi United FC;  Klirdap FC; KA Morning Star FC; Nihang Rongkethe FC; Ove Aterank; Re-United FC; Rongphu FC; Rongbin FC; RYSC; Scorpion FC; Singhasan FC; ST-11and  Langsoliet Sports Association.
