Aoleang Festival 1st open badminton tournament concludes
DIMAPUR — The 1st open badminton tournament of Aoleang festival, jointly organised by the Mon District Badminton Association and Officers’ Club, concluded on April 3 at badminton stadium, Mon town.
Y Mankhao Konyak, MLA, was the special guest of the closing ceremony, an official report stated.
The special guest in his address highlighted some government initiatives for sports and games in the state. Mankhao said losing or winning are all part of the game but what is important is participation.
He also stated that a progressive society needs progressive minds and physical wellbeing.
C Manpon Konyak, MLA, who also attended the programme, encouraged the players and stated that games and sports are a vital part of life.
President of Konyak Union, Tingtok, exhorted the players and the teams to play with discipline.
Earlier, SP, Mon, Uniel Kichu in his welcome speech informed that there are 70 participants with the youngest being eight years and the oldest 60 years.

Under 15 girls: Winner – Angel; runner-up – Anon
Under 15 boys: Winner – Nokpon; runner-up – Rehan
Mixed doubles: Winner -Ponlih and Shemon; runner-up – Yaom and Rokozo
Men’s doubles: Winner – Abo and Yatsak; runner-up – Shemon and Rokozo
Veterans: Winner – Winsha and Homanng; runner-up – Y Pongba and S Imtitemjen Ao
