Dimapur, May 12 (EMN): The 4th and 6th semester students of Education (Honours) of MGM College, Dimapur, along with its assistant professor of Education, Nimmi Varghese, visited Shalom Rehabilitation Centre in Chümoukedima, a project of the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), run by the Catholic Diocese Kohima, on May 9.

An update from the college stated that the mission of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre was to empower the addicts and family to free themselves from their addictive thinking and support them in their efforts to stay clean.

It stated that the counselor at the centre, Apong, gave an awareness lecture on the issue of recovery as well as recovery checklist for the inmates and students during the visit.

Report stated that the visit provided the students with real knowledge of addiction and recovery. It added that the students had the chance to participate in group therapy and general discussion, wherein they have expressed their personal experiences.

In conclusion, the counselor has emphasised on the importance of having small addiction centre in all the colleges to raise awareness about various addictions.
