Tuensang-Tribal Artisans Mela
DIMAPUR — A two-day Tribal Artisans Mela was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang Nokchasashi at Town Hall Tuensang on Monday.
The mela was organised by Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development of India Ltd.(TRIFED) in collaboration with district administration of Tuensang.
The DC expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for organizing the event, which is first in the district. He stated that handicraft and handloom are mainly based at the village-level in Nagaland and such melas bring opportunities to the local artisans not only to showcase their work but also to open a window of opportunity to sell their products worldwide.
He further added that being held in Tuensang district, the Land of Culture, will help the artisan to preserve their cultural identity and also promote their products through marketing linkages, an update form DIPR stated.

Short speeches were delivered by Lotus Sangtam SHG representative and Nagendra Nath Jah, SM, TRIFED Minister of Tribal Affairs, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Asif, Senior Programme Officer TRIFED.
