Ayush system of healthcare can reverse lifestyle-related health disorder, says Nagaland minister
Dimapur: The prevalence of non-communicable diseases has increased over the years even as Nagaland is fighting communicable diseases, said Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Paiwang Konyak on Thursday.
Speaking at the National Ayush Mission Conclave in New Delhi, Konyak said this alarming increase in lifestyle-related health disorder can be reversed to a great extent with the intervention of Ayush system of healthcare.
The public response to Ayush Medicines is encouraging and its intake is steadily increasing over the years, he was quoted as saying by DIPR.
He updated that the state established a 10-Bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Dimapur in 2016; 30-Bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Noklak in 2018; and 50-Bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Razha, Chedema, in 2022, while a 50-Bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Sapangya, Mokokchung and a 30-Bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Yachem, Longleng, are under construction.
However, he said the ongoing projects have been hampered by the state’s failure to avail approved outlay.
Informing that during the current year, the state is proposing 15 new Ayush dispensaries, including 11 approved last year, while three 30-Bedded new Integrated Ayush Hospitals and three 10-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital that were approved last year could not be sanctioned, the minister urged the Centre to consider early release of fund.
The two-day National Ayush Mission Conclave, which began on Thursday, was jointly addressed by the minister of Ayush, Ports, Shipping and Water Ways, Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Health minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
