First Salantem Youth Union Open Futsal Tournament underway

Mokokchung: The first Salantem Youth Union OpenOpen Futsal Tournament was kicked off by Jamonger Ao, ADS F&CAS Mokokchung, at Mojabi Turf, Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung on Tuesday.

The tournament is organised by the Salantem Youth Union (SYU) under the aegis of Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) on the theme “Focus to endure.”  

Jamonger Ao, the guest of honour, in his speech remarked that it was time for Mokokchung to become vibrant again by reviving activities such as music, athletics or spiritual revival.

He noted that while Mokokchung is making progress, it still needs more push to catch up with the rest of Nagaland and the world.

 “Let it be the churches, organisations, unions or associations, let us not be an association like ‘all bark and no bite’ but an action and result oriented associations to catch up with the rest of the world,” he challenged the gathering. 

Imtisungkum, the convener of the organising committee said SYU’s aspirations and goals in organising the tournament is to promote and develop the mental and physical growth of the younger generation.

Meyisanger Lemtur, the president MDFA announced that MDFA has dispatched a scouting team to the tournament to select players who will represent Mokokchung district in the upcoming inter-district futsal competition, which is set to take place in August.

He further said that starting this year, the MDFA Trophy will now become an open tournament and is scheduled to take place in September.

In the opening match Plan B trounced Junior FC 6-1.
