AASU stages sit-in against price rise in Diphu
DIPHU — Joining in the statewide protest against rise in prices of essential commodities, the All Assam Students Association (AASU), Karbi Anglong District Committee, organised a sit-in against Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Ranjit Kumar Dass, for his alleged failure to control price rise.
The sit-in, held in front of Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park, commenced from 11 am and ended at 12.30 pm.
The demonstrators shouted slogans against the Assam government and Dass for failure to check price rise of essential commodities in the state.
AASU, central committee, assistant general secretary, Shorjun Hanse said the common people all over Assam have been affected.
“The BJP party said when they come to power the common people will experience good days. The common people have not experienced any good days, but are experiencing bad days. Common people have no purchasing power due to the price rise of every commodity. We want to urge the State government to root out the price rise and ease the suffering of the common people,” Hanse said.
Hanse also blamed Dass for giving different reasons for the price rise and not being able to control it.
AASU, KADC, general secretary Arnab Kakoti and other members also participated in the protest.
