Governor urges to nurture dreams and aspiration of youth
Dimapur — Acknowledging that youth forms the foundation of any country, Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has urged to nurture and develop their dreams and aspirations in the present time to take the country forward.
Ganesan stated this during the Amrit Yuva Kalotsava 2023-24 held at Rangaphar Military Station in Dimapur on Tuesday as the chief guest. The programme was organised by the Sangeeta Natak Akademi, national academy of music, dance and drama (an autonomous body of ministry of Culture, Government of India), in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur, and the Spear Corps of the Indian army, an update from Raj Bhavan stated.
Ganesan, who is also the chairman of NEZCC, stated that the culture of India, with its deep civilisational roots, is a profound example of living heritage. According to him, it is manifested in multifarious forms, genres and expressions which encompassed the cultural practices, knowledge and skills that flow from one generation to the next. He added that Indian culture flows in the collective consciousness of the people defining its cultural heritage and identity.
While acknowledging that the foundation of any country is the youth, he has urged to nurture and develop their dreams and aspirations in the present times in order to take the country forward.
The governor also pointed out that the progress in the Amrit Kaal has to be at multi-dimensional levels and for posterity as India cerebrates its 75th Independence year with a new found zeal.
He stated that Amrit Yuva Kalotsava is a commendable endeavour of Sangeet Natak Akademi, which aspires to encourage the younger generation to celebrate its cultural heritage and expressed through various performing art genres.
The governor also lauded the efforts of Dr. Sandhya Purecha, chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi; Joravarsinh Jadhav, vice chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi; and all the staff members of the Akademi for formulating and implementing the laudable vision behind Amrit Yuva Kalotsava.
As part of the festival, the governor informed that a workshop on art critique and other multifarious aspects of the performing arts is being organised in which senior experts, art critics, and scholars would interact with art enthusiasts and young artists, both in the physical and virtual modes so as to share the knowledge acquired through their vast experience.
He also expressed hope that Amrit Yuva Kalotsava would contribute to reinvigorating the youth, gurus, communities, and cultural institutions to take the responsibility forward. He further called upon the participants to take part in those artistic endeavours in order to redefine cultural policies.
The groups which performed during the programme includes Odissi Vision and Movement Centre from Kolkata, Manab Das and Group from Tripura, Vüngi Nzanta Culltural Club from Nagaland, Kanika Ignti and Group from Assam, Yumnam Bisojit and group from Manipur, and Sanskrit play by Bheem Hanuman Samvad, Akash Mallikand group from Delhi and Kolkata.
Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi, GOC of Spear Corps, was the guest of honour. Other Officers who witnessed the programme included commissioner and secretary of Art & Culture, Athel O Lotha; vice chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Joravarsinh Jadav; secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan; and director NEZCC, Dr. Prashanna Gogoi.
