Livestock training for former cadres underway

DIPHU — A three-day livelihood improvement training programme on livestock and poultry farming for former cadres of the six insurgent groups of Karbi Anglong that had signed an MoS agreement with the state and central governments in 2021 got underway in Rongbang Timung village, Chutianala, on Tuesday.

The training programme is being organised by Karbi Anglong district police, administration and office of Buffalo Breeding Project, Manja. Altogether, 30 persons are attending the training programme.

Inaugurating the training programme, the Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong, Sanjib Kumar Saikia, said the three-day training programme on livestock and poultry farming for former cadres would conclude on October 12. He added that the training programme is being conducted to enable the former armed cadres to start their own activities for self-dependence so that they don’t go back to the jungle again.

Bank linkages hves been made for availing loans. After the training, selected persons would be introduced for availing bank loans to start their own activities, the SP said.

The district veterinary officer, Dilip Mahanta, and other officials are conducting the training, Saikia added.
