‘Run for unity’ marks ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Government offices and educational institutions across Nagaland observed ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) by organising ‘Run for unity’ on Tuesday. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Valabhbhai Patel.

Kohima: To promote the spirit of national unity, the department of Youth Resources and Sports, organised a ‘Run for unity” event at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima. The event was aimed at involving people from all sections of society.

The unity run was flagged off by the SDO  of Kohima, Nokpai Konyak. An approximate 200 men and women from diverse sections of society actively participated in the run, demonstrating their commitment to the cause of national unity. Before the unity run began, all participants took the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ pledge, emphasising their dedication to the principles of unity and integration.

Tuensang: The ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ programme in Tuensang was held at the Clock Tower. The ‘Run for unity’ brought together participants from various segments of the community including the district administration, DEF Tuensang, and students from Government Thangjam Higher Secondary School, Tuensang.

The event served as a powerful tribute to the ideals of unity and diversity highlighting the nation’s strength in coming together as one.

Longleng: In Longleng, the district administration organised a unity run at the district headquarters. The event was inaugurated by SP of Longleng, Yanger Jamir, who also administered the unity pledge and flagged off the run.

The unity run commenced from Hukphang Junction and concluded at Lempong Junction.

Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, EAC of Longleng, representing the district administration, extended his gratitude to all the head of departments, staff, police personnel, students and participants for their participation.

Mokokchung: Commemorating ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas,’ a total of 60 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges, all affiliated with 25 Naga Battalion NCC, Mokokchung, participated in the unity day in Mokokchung.

The unity pledge was administered by Chumlamo Humtsoe, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Mokokchung, who also flagged off the event from Police Point in Mokokchung. It stated that the NCC cadets displayed great enthusiasm and energy as they completed the run, which culminated at the public ground.

The NCC cadets also participated in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative by engaging in the cleaning the public ground.

Noklak: Noklak district administration also organised ‘Run for unity’ event in Noklak town.

During a brief programme, the deputy commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba, underscored the significance of October 31 as National Unity Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He also administered the national unity pledge and emphasised on the principles of unity and integration. He also flagged off the ‘Run for unity,’ symbolising the spirit of togetherness and harmony.

The run, which commenced from the public ground, concluded at the police point.

Dimapur: The Dimapur district administration, in collaboration with the district sports officer, organised a ‘Run for unity” at the Government Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan, Dimapur.

Participants from various walks of life gathered to mark the occasion and pay homage to SardarVallabhbhai Patel.

Immanuel College: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Immanuel College observed ‘Rashtriya Ektha Diwas’ in the college auditorium.

In his address, the college principal, Th. Sharatchandra Singh, described Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the man behind today’s modern India, who integrated the post-independence India with his sheer skills. He also highlighted the significance of ‘National Unity Day,’ which is celebrated annually to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The principal also led the gathering in taking the national unity day pledge.

RJHSS: Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School in Dimapur celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by organising a pledge taking ceremony to spread the message of national unity and integrity.

All the teachers and students have actively participated in the programme. In the programme, AK Dutta, senior teacher, explained the value of Ekta (unity), while some students also shared their views.
