Capt. Kenguruse Trophy: Tehok, St. Xavier’s College into semis

KOHIMA — Tehok FC from Mon and St. Xavier’s College, Jalukie from Peren, on Tuesday advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing 7th edition of Late Capt. N Kenguruse Mahavir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament at IG Stadium in Kohima.

In the third quarter-final match, Tehok FC secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Holy Angels Sports Team of Noklak, setting up a semifinal clash with St. Xavier’s College.

Tehok FC took an early lead with Lohe’s goal in the 8th minute, and Nisede added another in the 35th minute. Substitute Manton made an immediate impact, scoring the third goal with his first touch.

In the fourth quarter-final match, St. Xavier’s College overcame Beckon FC from Phek 4-2 margin to book their place in the semifinals. Despite Beckon FC taking the lead with Kozo’s goal in the 7th minute, Poulinlung equalised in the very next minute, making it a 1-1 draw.

St. Xavier’s College continued to press forward, with Ipeuwangbe scoring a brace in the 29th and 73rd minutes, and Irabeubo contributing the fourth goal in the 59th minute.

On Wednesday, a trophy parade for public display will take place along the route from Lerie Junction to High School Junction, from 10 am onwards in the state capital.

1st semifinal: Liangmai FC vs. Western Sumi Sports Association at 1 pm

2nd semifinal: Tehok FC vs. St. Xavier’s College Jalukie at 3 pm
