Winter Cricket Challenge: LCYO, Highlanders enter semi finals
DIMAPUR — Highlanders and LCYO Cricket Club have made it to the semi-finals at the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge played at Wokha town.
In Thursday’s first match between LCYO and Kohima Royals, LCYO, who won the toss, opted to bat first and set a target of 98 runs before they were all out in 16.1 overs. Renben Kikon with 16 runs, Epithung (15), Chenithung (19) and Thechamo Odyuo (11) were the main run getters.
In reply, Kohima Royals lost the match by one run after they were all out in the stipulated 20 overs. Robin Patton with 19 runs, Mhonbemo Kithan (32) and Yankio (13) were the main scorers for the team. Thechamo Odyuo of LCYO with 4 wickets and 11 runs was adjudged the man of the match.
In the second match, Highlanders set a target of 110 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs. The top contributors were Jitu (31 runs), Asif (21) and Mughavi (35). In the second innings, Elite CC failed to reach the target in 20 overs and Highlanders won the match by 13 runs. The top scorers for Elite CC were Imomemba, Sameer Ali and Zidu. Asif of Highlanders was adjudged the man of the match for his 21 runs and one wicket.
