NSCN (IM) condemns killing of Kilonser Khampei Opeiham Konyak
DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has condemned the killing of its kilonser, Khampei Opeiham Konyak, by unidentified assailants in Tizit on February 21.
In a press release issued on Friday, the NSCN (IM) stated that the dastardly crime should be condemned by all.
“NSCN is against senseless killings among the Nagas when we should be devoting all our energies towards achieving lasting peace and reconciliation. This kind of killing is in contrast to what the Nagas stand for in the context of the ongoing peace process,” it asserted.
Khampei, who joined the NSCN (IM) from Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) last year, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his house in Tizit, Mon district, on Wednesday night at around 9-9:30 pm. The details of the incident, including the identity of the assailants could not be ascertained, as repeated attempts made by this newspaper to get information from the Tizit Police went unsuccessful.
