Eastern Mirror: Please introduce yourself to our readers who are new to you.
Jv: My name is Dzüvingunuo Kelio but I go by the name Jv. I am from Kohima village, and I am a singer, songwriter and composer.
Eastern Mirror: How and when you got involved with music?
Jv: Well, I was always interested in music but did not know I had the ability to sing or create music. But from a very young age, I used to see my father and his band called ‘Cotton Country Come Home’ and practice their songs. I wanted to be like them. I used to picture myself on stage wearing all these beautiful and glamorous clothes. Also, my grandma was a radio singer in her days and she used to sing songs for us. That also drove me into the music scene.
Eastern Mirror: When did you perform on stage for the first time as a musician? What was your experience like?
Jv: The first time I performed on stage as a musician was in 2016 at a programme called “Aces High Cars and Bike Meet,” where I was given the opportunity to perform. I will always be grateful to them, as the experience was unforgettable. When I stepped onto the stage, I was filled with emotions and trembling, but as I sang my set and the music concluded, a wave of excitement swept through the crowd. In that moment, I realised, “This is where I belong; this is my escape, and I find happiness and peace in it.” From that point on, I never looked back.
Eastern Mirror: How would you describe your musical genre to the readers?
Jv: As for my genre in music, I would say it’s a mixture of everything, as I like to sing every genre except metal, but other than that, I sing every genre and my originals also have different genres in them.
Eastern Mirror: What are your main inspirations while writing lyrics?
Jv: My main inspiration while writing songs would be my life and the people I meet in life. Also, human lives carry a lot of chapters so from there I get my inspiration and sometimes I like to take inspiration from anything around me, be it a movie I watch, a book I read, or just a view of anything.
Eastern Mirror: What is your greatest strength? How does it help you as a musician?
Jv: My greatest strength lies in my faith in God and my family, particularly my mom, the label I am signed to, “Infinity Inc,” and my mentor, Kekhrie Ringa.
They have helped me grow in the music field by always standing up for me and speaking on my behalf in times when I couldn’t defend myself. Since day one, they have consistently supported me, providing reasons to persist in music, which I consider my greatest strength.
Eastern Mirror: What would be your dream collaboration?
Jv: It’s a little outside the box but I really want to make a song with “The Weekend.” And in Nagaland, I would like to collaborate with Moko Koza
Eastern Mirror: Do you have any hobbies?
Jv: Music is my passion and as for my hobbies, they include cooking, writing, and dancing.
Eastern Mirror: What are the challenges you face as a musician? How do you overcome them?
Jv: The challenge I faced and still face as a musician is not being able to reach out to people to listen to my music. I’m sure I’m lacking somewhere and I’ll work on it. And a few other challenges I faced as a musician would be not being paid on time or sometimes I don’t even get paid (but it’s all handled now by my label, for which I’m so grateful and thankful). Also, not getting opportunities, I would say, but yes, I’ll work hard no matter what.
Eastern Mirror: What is your most ambitious goal?
Jv: I am determined to carve out a place for myself in the music industry and make a meaningful impact through my work. My ambition to become a singer is rooted in a deep love and passion for music. I am driven by the desire to express myself, inspire others, and effect positive change through my work.
Eastern Mirror: Are there any upcoming projects that you want to share with your fans?
Jv: I am currently working on a few upcoming projects, but I wouldn’t want to spoil them by disclosing details at this time. Once I’m done with the work, I’d like to discuss them.

Jv: I just want to say thank you to everyone who has always been there and supported me throughout my musical journey so far and I pray and wish you’ll continue to do so even in the coming days. I’m more than humbled and blessed to have you all.
