BJP Nagaland set to start membership drive

DIMAPUR — Embarking on ambitious mission to increase the party membership from the previous figure of two lakh, the Nagaland unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to start the membership drive in the state under ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan.’

In this regard, a state-level workshop on ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan,’ which means membership drive 2024, was held on Wednesday at Lions Club in Dimapur.

Speaking at the workshop, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Lok Sabha MP and national secretary of BJP, stated that the BJP in Nagaland is not a challenge because it is a state where the BJP is part of the government.

He has asked the party workers to make Nagaland a model state by enrolling maximum numbers. He also asked the party workers to reach out to people and convince them to join BJP, a party which works for development.

The MP also explained the procedures to become a BJP member and stressed on human resource management and good relationship with people to draw people towards the party.

Nagaland minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, has termed the membership drive as an important project to strengthen the party at all levels. He stated that party is trying its best to make BJP the number one party in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the deputy chief minister, Y Patton, shared that the membership drive is not just about numbers but connecting with every citizen, understanding their needs and showing how “BJP can make a difference in their lives.”

He called upon the party workers to be ambassadors of BJP by sharing the vision with friends, family and neighbours and explain how BJP policies could create jobs, improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for all the Nagas.

He also cited the power of technology through social media and digital platform in their outreach efforts to connect with the younger voters and spread message more efficiently.

He encouraged the party workers to set ambitious targets as they set forth in the membership drive.

“But more importantly focus on meaningful engagement with new and potential members, because we want not just numbers but active, informed and passionate individuals who will strengthen our party from the grassroots,” Patton said.

Advisor of Tribal Affairs, Tovihoto Ayemi; minister of Health and Family Welfare, Paiwang Konyak; Rajya Sabha MP, P Phangnon Konyak; Nagaland BJP president, Benjamin Yepthomi; cabinet minister Bashangmongba Chang; advisor of Prisons and Printing and Stationery, Kropol Vitsu; and national secretary of Mahila Morcha BJP, Aienla Jamir, were also present at the meeting.
