Governor seeks public support for development

DIMAPUR — Elaborating on several development activities undertaken by the government, Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, called upon the local communities and civil societies of Kiphire district to work hand-in-hand with the government, both at the centre and state for sustainable and progress development.

The governor, who visited Kiphire district on Tuesday, stated this during a meeting with the head of departments and members of civil society organisations held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office. He has termed Kiphire district as a vibrant and promising district and appreciated the richness of its culture and people.

He highlighted the Pradhan Mantri TB Muk Bharat Abhiyan, an endeavour to eliminate TB by 2025 five years ahead of the global target, and urged the healthcare authority to enhance awareness on the PMEGP TB Muk Bharat Abhiyan. He also spoke on JJM, CMHIS and Ayushman Bharat, a DIPR report stated.

Speaking on the road construction work in the district, he stated that the ongoing construction works under state PWD and NHIDCL are in progress and assured that it would be completed soon as the government is giving its best efforts. He added that connectivity is the life line of progress, be it trade, commerce and pathways to education.

Besides, the governor urged the leaders and educators to renew their commitments and invigorate institutions, inspire students and invest in the future of the district through education.

Ganesan further spoke on problems of drugs abuse and urged the civil societies and the law enforcement agencies to eliminate the inflow of drugs in the district.

The report stated that a memorandum was submitted to the Governor by the president of Akehta Sangtamlaru Thsingmujang (United Sangtam Women Organisation) urging the government to deploy one gynaecologist doctor at Kiphire District Hospital to avoid hardship faced by the women community.

Earlier, the governor was received by the officials of Kiphire district at the helipad and accorded the guard of honour. He was also felicitated by members of civil society organisations at the DC’s conference hall.

The deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, chaired the programme. Departmental presentations were made by the executive engineer of PHED, project director of DRDA and chief medical officer of Kiphire.

Later, the governor held an interaction with head of government offices and civil societies followed by security coordination meeting and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ADC of Kiphire, Longdiba L Sangtam.
